Mr. Ishrat Ullah Khan Niazi, the Director General of QAED Punjab, welcomed all the esteemed guests. He briefed about ITSP program. QAED has launched this digital Continuous Professional Development Program (CPD) for Primary School Teachers in the province with the technical support from PESP 3, Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit (PMIU) and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) of the Government of the Punjab. This program is named the Innovative Teacher Support Package (ITSP). The course contains 11 units, covering 11 teaching practices in the Classroom Observation Tool. It has a web interface as well as an android app that has been developed for delivery of this course. The AEOs will use this digital course in the teachers' forum, to be conducted every month at a central school, in their respective areas. QAED has already conducted orientation program for 3300 AEOs across the Punjab.
This new CPD has been designed using a blended learning approach, i.e. the course uses videos, text and quizzes for the teachers. The course can also be used for self-study by the teachers. One hundred ninety-three thousand (193,000) primary school teachers in the province will benefit from the course. In turn, the teaching and learning in the public sector primary schools will resultantly improve benefiting 6.7 million children enrolled in public sector primary schools. The private sector schools and teachers can also benefit from the course by downloading the ITSP app from Google play store.
QAED has also prepared a comprehensive scale-up plan, with elaborate instructions and a robust monitoring plan to ensure effective implementation of this course in the province. An evaluation of the course is also planned by the TA team.
